Nutrition and Health Education

Nutrition Education is one of the many benefits WIC has to offer families. Our WIC agency offers free nutrition and health education in an interactive environment, making the learning experience more fun, engaging and meaningful. You can select to receive the education one-on-one with a WIC staff or join a group of parents for an interactive group discussion on a topic. You select how you want to receive the information.

WIC participants receive education on a variety of different topics under the following categories: When You Are PregnantWhen You Have An Infant, and When You Have A Child.

NUTRITION & HEALTH EDUCATION YOU CAN EXPECT AT WIC

When You Are Pregnant

During your 1st through 3rd trimester, you will receive nutrition and health information to help you and your baby grow healthy during your pregnancy.


Interactive Group Lessons:

  • Let’s Talk Newborn Feeding Secrets
  • Infant Feeding 101

One-on-One Lesson with a WIC Staff- select a topic:

  • What is Happening to My Body and My Baby?
  • Breast Milk in The Bottle 
  • What to Expect – Delivery and Beyond

 Online Education: take it when you have time; at your own pace

  • Understanding your Newborn Baby
  • Preparing to Meet Your Newborn
  • A variety of topics on pregnancy and health. (Select a topic that interests you.)

When You have An Infant
(0-12 months)

You will receive nutrition and health information every 1- 3 months on a variety of topics.  You select how you want to receive the information from the three options below:


Interactive Group Lessons:

  • Understanding Your Baby’s Cues
  • A new topic on Nutrition and Health is available every 3 months 

One-on-One Lesson with a WIC Staff:

  • Understanding Your Baby’s Cues
  • A variety of topics are available on Infant feeding and health information. (You select the topic that interests you.)

 Online Education: take it when you have time; at your own pace

  • Understanding your Baby’s Cues
  • Feeding Your Infant Solid Foods
  • A variety of topics on infant feeding and health information. (Select a topic that interests you.)

When You Have A Child
(1-5 years old)

You will receive nutrition and health information every 3 months on a variety of topics.  You select how you want to receive the information from the three options below:


Interactive Group Lessons:

  • A new topic on Nutrition and Health is available every 3 months 

One-on-One Lesson with a WIC Staff:

  • The nutrition and health topic of the month
  • A variety of topics are available on child feeding and health information. (You select the topic that interests you.)

 Online Education: take it when you have time; at your own pace

  • A variety of topics on child feeding, active play and health. (Select a topic that interests you.)
