Breastfeeding and the WIC Program

Breastfeeding is the best food you can give your baby. WIC provides you with many services and personalized support to get breastfeeding off to a good start and to help you enjoy your breastfeeding experience. We will assist you in achieving the breastfeeding journey you desire.

The WIC program supports:

Exclusive breastfeeding as the best source of nutrition for infants for the first six months of life.
Breastfeeding as the main source of nutrition as solids are introduced at six months of age.
Breastfeeding beyond the infant’s first birthday, so long as both mother and child are interested in continuing.

Food Packages:

Breastfeeding mothers and infants receive special food packages to support successful breastfeeding and nutrition.

WIC Breastfeeding Classes:

The WIC program is here to assist you and ensure you have breastfeeding success. We offer online, group, and individual counseling on different breastfeeding topics.

Breastfeeding Services and Support:

The WIC program has certified lactation educators on staff to answer questions and help solve any problems that may arise during the breastfeeding journey. WIC also assists participants with different types of aids such as nursing bras, nursing pads, breast pumps and other aids depending on each family’s unique needs. We also offer referrals to providers in the community for continued breastfeeding assistance.
